we often made our own meals and ate on the balcony.
The hotel also had a restaurant, where we dined twice. Here is a salad we ordered the first day.

Cooking while on vacation saves sooooo much money! Plus when you have kids with you, it's so much easier to manage them if they don't have to wait around a table for their food. And eating on a balcony sounds like so much fun!
Years ago, we took our four kids to France and Italy. On the way, we stopped overnight at the Mediterranean. The beach looked a lot like this one, with all those rocks!
